Help with Windows Live Messenger profile name ?

My grandad has finally got messenger. He is using the Windows Live Messenger 2008. When he signs in his name appears as William which no one knows him as so we go to Options and change it to Bill. However when you sign out and sign back in again it reverts it to William - does anyone know a way of stopping this from happening?

I have gone to his inbox and changed his registered name to Bill in the options settings but this has made no difference either !

Please help !

In Messenger menu, go to Tools -%26gt; Options.

On the first tab - "Personal", under "My Display Name", the first box specifies the name visible to other people. It overrides the name in MSN profile.
