How do i do that? windows live messenger..?

On windows live messenger, on the website about it...the video information thingy, the woman on there said that u can lyk search for a pic (the search box comes up next to ur msn convo screen) n then the pic u like, u can drag it into ur msn screen....to set it as ur display pic...(and backgrounds too).

i have windows live messenger 8.1. how do i get it to be able to do that pic n drag thing?

i think i know what you are talking about

open a conversation with a friend on the conversation there is at the top (( share folder/ add someone to the conversation/webcam/call/games%26amp;activitie...

what you need to do is click on the see a list of activities than click on "search" it will open the convo in a bigger way and you will see a big box where it says to search under the searcjh bar there is a little green arrow click on it and it will open a box it will telll you to install activx controll and than you click next and you will install the desktop search bar ....

and after you follow the instruction and foolow what it tells you to install you can search you desktop from the convo and find the image you want and drag the image and drop it on your display pic but make sure when you search the bar is set to be on images not anything else

and by the way you can drag and drop images anyway like you don't have to do all this to drag the image and put it on your other display pic and it will change

but when you install that i think your friend will be able to see what you are searching and which picture you picked and dragged

oh and for the background you can just drag a picture and drop it on the background pic in the convo but don'tdrop it into the place where you talk cause it will send it as apic to another friend

ok let's say u have a conv.box opened !!! all u have to do is click on the pic u wna make ur display and drag it (keep holding mouse left click while moving) then drop it on the display pic box in the conv box it'll be there !(keep holding till ur mouse turns white and a "+" shows !! s for the background do the same steps but this time keep moving ur mouse in the box (after turns white and + appears" till the back ground turns blue then let go !! u can also drag the pic to the small box u type things u wna say and drop it there this way u'll send it to ur friend
If you drag a drop your pic into a msg box it will either send the person the file or set the window backgroud as the pic
this drag an' drop things r for Macs only, i think. It doesn't work for my computer. Mayb the person who told u that thought that every computer could bcuz hers could. Anyway, u can save the pic and in a conversation change ur display pic.

Dragging and dropping is one of the best hidden features of windows xp/ vista.

You don't need to have windows live search installed in messenger to be able to do this. Simply find a picture in your web browser (internet explorer or firefox) then drag and drop the image into the background area or the display picture area. It may be easier for you if you rearrange the browser and messenger conversation windows before you start.

You can also do this with images that you may have saved on your computer already.

This works in the same way as opening files. Simply drag the file from its location in the my computer window, desktop or any other location and drop it in the application you want to open it in.
