When I start Yahoo Messenger, I have someone using Windows Live Messenger who wants to add me to their list. I get the system message and it tells me that I need to sign up for the beta program. But when I click on the link, I get directed to a different page with no sign up. How do I get rid of that system message, and sign up for the beta?

you don't sign up for the beta, you just download it from y!'s site. After that you can add people across the networks using the add contact icon.
