In the norton 360 firewall protetion program i changed option to allow windows live messenger but still not sign in.

Norton isn't keeping messenger from logging in, just log in and click the box to either connect automatically or to auto sign in. Either way I would suggest you get rid of Norton....its a system hog and there's plenty of other options that are both free and paid services......you may have some other program that is clearing out the temp folder or clearing cookies and that's why the messenger isn't logging in automatically. I would suggest to not have the messenger sign in automatic anyways as this could cause a security problem especially if you have the sharing option available.

I think the best option is to set Windows as the Firewall, not Norton.
even so, you may need to alter your Windows security settings in "Internet Options".
