What URL or IP does Windows Live Messenger use to authenticate?

I've recently implemented a Proxy platform using GPO and a outsourced Proxy company "MX Logic" at URL "web01.mxlogic.net" on Port 8080. Windows Live Messenger will not connect while going through the proxy. I've searched all over the web for an IP address or URL to where Live Messenger authenticates with no luck.

Has anyone seen this issue or have any advice? It would be greatly appreciated!

Just use a packet sniffer on your computer and login to messenger. Wireshark works quite well. Also there are multiple IP address Live Messenger uses: 65.54.179.203. but there is also 65.54.239.20, 207.46.106.86, 65.54.239.24, and 207.46.113.216 from what I see the all use port 1863 except for 207.46.113.216 which uses https(this might be the auth server)

Ensure port 1863 isn't blocked. Most proxies tend to block thing's like Messenger by default.

And the authentication servers are in the messenger.live.com subdomain im pretty sure.

Your best bet would be to contact your proxy provider, and tell them of your problem. Its their liability to fix the issue, not yours.
